CHIKIN BIZNIS - The Whole Story

Sophisticated, honest and times touching, this film follows the fortunes and blunders of the streetwise Bra Sipho, who after “twenty five years of sophisticated slavery” for a Stock Exchange listed company, retires to set up shop in Johannesburg in the lucrative ttrade of chicken business, hoping that one day he will return to the Stock Exchange as the king of his own business empire: a telling metaphor for the aspirations of many others South Africans in an increasingly competitive economic environment. A typical chauvinist (“just like dogs, you can give them the best dog food, yet they still won’t resist the urge to go and scavenge, so women sit and discuss about men”) Bra Sipho is in for a rude awakening in his family and private life. Set in an atmospherically charged Johannesburg township streetwise lingo to deliver a superb story. Studded with great South African acting talent in key roles, this is a wonderfully engaging South African film with an equally great soundtrack by singer Max Mntambo.
