Samantha and her husband Dov, American Zionists, immigrate to Palestine led by their political opinions and idealism. There, a communist architect is devoting much of his time to the creation of a new motherland, leaving his wife mostly alone. Also Kalman, Samantha’s brother, who wants to buy land from the Arabs and Kalkovsky, a lonely librarian, who has left his family in Europe and dreams of a peaceful living among Arabs and Jews, arrive in Palestine. Meanwhile, in Europe, the Second World War is at its peak. While Dov is involved in the Jewish Brigade and Kalman goes back to the States, Samantha and Kalkovsky start a love affair. After the war, a lot is going to change for everybody. |
