Young-lim, a 9-year-old girl, lives with her elder brother Tong-gu, mentally retarded, and their father in a mining town in the province of Kang-won. Their mother has abandoned the family. When, for health issues, her father has to stop work as a miner, he falls into depression and alcoholism. The little girl then becomes the only one able to take on family responsibilities. |
