The BFG is a Big Friendly Giant, very different from the other giants who live in Giant Country who, like Bloodbottler and Fleshlumpeater gobble up human beings, preferably children. And so one night, the BFG – who is a vegetarian and only eats snozzcumbers and frobscottle – steals away Sophie, a young girl living in London, and takes her to his cave. Initially frightened by the mysterious giant, very soon does Sophie realize that the BFG is actually sweet, friendly, and can teach her wonderful things. The BFG will take Sophie to Dream Country, where he catches the dreams which he then blows into the bodies of sleeping children and will explain to her everything about magic and the mystery of dreams. |
