LA PRINCIPESSA E L'AQUILA

Mongolian nomad people have a two-thousand year old tradition of eagle hunting. This method of hunting foxes, wolves and other animals, is passed down from father to son, if the heir has a marked penchant for working with eagles. When, to use their own words, "you have it in your blood".

Aisholpan is a thirteen year old girl who, unlike her girlfriends, has never been scared of eagles, or of climbing a very high mountain to capture her own eaglet, after the weaning process is completed, in order to raise it and train it following her father's teachings. Incredibly talented and determined, Aisholpan, with the support of her family, has chosen to become the first eagle huntress, despite the opposition of many elders in her community.

Aisholpan has stated her desire to study medicine and become a doctor. The filmmakers have established a fund to help pay for Aisholpan’s higher education and also donated the prize money ($3,000) they received from winning Best Documentary at the Hamptons Film Festival to this fund.
