A hen named Leafie can’t stand the captivity of the chicken coop. When she finally manages to escape and fulfill her desire for freedom she discovers that the world is a hostile place, populated by predators like weasel One-Eye. She finds a mallard egg, motherless thanks to One-Eye. She decides to hatch the egg and raise the duckling as her own, despite the many differences between the two species. When the duck is old enough to migrate it will still have Leafie by its side in times of danger. |
