Vincent knows why since infancy he has been forced to wear that blue bonnet which even now he sports with an air midway between shame and pride. The reason is fairly banal and not even worth explaining. And in fact he doesn’t. The others, however, see that curious symbol as who knows what kind of stance, who knows what kind of existential choice that has nothing normal about it. For them Vincent is suspect, is someone who wants to be different, to get himself noticed. Who does he think he is? But in spite of everything Vincent will have the strength not to change.
