17 FILLES

2011

Spring 2008. 17 girls at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts get pregnant within a short time. The school’s medical service notices how happy the girls are when they learn they’re expecting. These teenagers had made a pact to have children and raise them together. The leader of the group is Camille who, having gotten pregnant because of a defective condom, decides not to abort and to get her friends involved. From the moment they become mothers they change from daughters dependent on parents to parents themselves. The effect of peer imitation is cemented by the desire to be young mothers who won’t make the same mistakes their parents made with them. The film’s location is in France.
