Castellinaria Youth Film Festival, in collaboration with Locarno Kids workshops and activities 2024, is pleased to present:
ATELIER
WEAVES, STORIES ARE BORN FROM ENCOUNTERS!
The atelier, led by Bruna Ferrazzini and Suzanne Schmollgruber, offers a creative and playful experience designed to bring out and discover the uniqueness and talents of children/youths. During the workshop each participant will freely create, with simple materials and the necessary tools, a small book - a unique and personal leporello - creating a work that reflects the individuality and creativity of the children/youths.
The course consists of three phases
- the creation of a character,
- the development of a story,
- the creation of a leporello.
At the end of the workshop, the children/youths will be encouraged to replicate the process independently, according to their age and wishes, freely adapting the method to their own needs or preferences and exploring their creative specificities.
WHO WE ARE
Bruna will use the stains and/or cut-outs technique, guiding participants in the creation of the booklet, starting from cues that will lead to the natural and almost magical development of a character and a story that often comes as a surprise.
Suzanne will share the secrets of paper folding and binding, stimulating precision and attention to detail, offering a new and different look at the power of manual skills.

For older children (aged 11/12)
Alma lives with her father in a building where there is a courtyard that both adults and young people use. Her mother was an environmental activist who died in the Amazon. One day Alma finds out that the company where her father works wants to raze the yard, including the trees, to make it into a car park. Together with the other kids in the building, with whom relations were initially strained, Alma organises an action to prevent this from happening.

AKIKO, DER FLIEGENDE AFFE by Veit Elmer
For young children
A little monkey escapes from an ill-kept zoo by a wicked director to find her fellow animals in the forest and to free the animals imprisoned in the zoo and beyond. She is helped by various other animals living in the city.
