Cultural mediation in cinema aims to promote education in the image and audiovisual language.
The school screenings offered by Castellinaria have always been opportunities for children, young people and young adults to grow. The presentations in the auditorium as well as the discussions at the end of the screening, the educational material and the atelier proposals for classes, are unique opportunities to strengthen the aesthetic sensitivity of the new generations and promote a better awareness of different audiovisual forms.
This will now be possible throughout the whole year and not only in the Canton of Ticino.
After welcoming pupils and students to the festival spaces for years, Castellinaria is now ready to enter classrooms thanks to the new CastellinClasse project.

With Castellinaria... and CastellinClasse
SHARING EXPERIENCES
Watching a film together with others, having the opportunity to discuss it at the end of the screening, comparing the opinions of one's peers, are useful opportunities to develop linguistic and analytical skills, learning to express one's own thoughts and to argue.
DEALING WITH CURRENT AND PAST ISSUES
The selected films touch on important issues that can be addressed both before and after the screening, thus going beyond mere viewing and deepening the topics covered by the film.
DISCOVERING THE LANGUAGE OF FILM
Knowing how to see a film also means understanding it in its language made up of words and shots, editing, rhythm, lighting, noises and music. All fundamental elements in characterising a film.
GIVING SPACE FOR CREATIVITY
With the workshops and laboratories, students will learn to express creatively what they have seen, deepening their understanding of the themes and relating even more closely to the content of the film.
MEET EXPERTS IN THE FIELD
A unique and important opportunity is that of meeting experts working in the film industry (directors, animators, etc.) who, through their experiences, will help the students to better understand what lies behind the making of a film.
