Christos, 13, lives with his mother and two brothers (all of Greek origin) in a poor neighborhood. When not at school, he robs people in the underground or railway station. His biggest worry is his elder brother Maikis, who is a turbulent kid. In the meantime, a new teacher comes to school, Hanna Solinger, who after the first day there wants to resign: she can’t handle the class assigned to her. Hanna does not reveal that she has recognized Christos as the purse-snatcher who robbed her at the station. This wins the trust of the boy who, when Maikis is arrested, asks for her help. The woman is reluctant, but Xavier, a former music teacher become social worker, manages to convince her to stay.
