Young Count Federico and lovely Lucia, daughter of gamekeeper Masone, are in love.The couple would like to marry but Federico’s father is opposed to the idea and, after sending his son to France, he fires Masone who moves to Poland with Lucia and Tonio, the child she has had with Federico. After years of hardship, Lucia is forced to apprentice Tonio to an ill-tempered old chimneysweep. Only after many years will Lucia, Federico and Tonio be reunited.
