With Riccardo Scamarcio and Benedetta Porcaroli
Ascoli Piceno, 1938. Luciano is the owner of a restaurant overlooking the town's main square. He’s a veteran of the Great War from which he suffered a perpetually injured leg. He blandly sympathises with the ruling Fascist Party, counts among his acquaintances a local hierarch and watches the parades of young Italian women from the window of his busy business. One day Anna, a young woman who’s willing to do any job, appears in front of those windows, and Luciano hires her as a waitress. Anna has special qualities: she has studied, is capable and full of initiative but also has a past to hide.
