Since he was a child, Jack believed the tender lie his parents told him, namely that Gio, his brother, was a "special" child with incredible superpowers, like a comic book hero. Over time Gio, suffering from Down syndrome, becomes for his brother a secret not to be revealed. With this feeling in his heart, Jack goes through middle school. Then when he meets his first love, Arianna, the presence of Gio, with his bizarre and unpredictable behavior, becomes a burden so heavy for him that he gets to deny Gio's existence to her and his new high school friends.
