Mohamed is an orphaned child. He lost his parents during the trip on a rubber dinghy in the Mediterranean. His mother and father have drowned and he, alone, wanders the streets of the province of Rome. One evening, returning home from work, Paolo notices Mohamed in the rain at the bus stop. The man decides to take the kid with him, and when he gets home with him, his wife Valeria doesn't seem enthusiastic about his decision. The couple have lost a child and, after an initial uncertainty, she eventually grows fond of the little boy. But soon xenophobia and the prejudices that cloud people's minds will arise.
