The workshops

The workshops of the DRESSING THE CINEMA exhibition

In the theatrical tailor's workshop set up in the exhibition space, the ateliers take place, a fundamental part of the cultural mediation programme that Castellinaria has been running with particular care since 2010.

Each year we present a 'cinema craft'. This year, of course, it is the costume designer.

The workshops are open to students of all school grades.

At the end of the Festival, the workshops will continue throughout the month of December and will be open to the public, by appointment.

Nov. 21 - 22 - 23 - 25 | 9:30 - 11:00 | 13:30 - 15:00

with costume designers Barbara Splendiani Unternärher and Michelle Wüscher

In the costume workshop the participants learn how to characterise a character by following the script. They also learn that the costume designer's job is not limited to designing a dress, but also that on set one must always be creative and ready for all eventualities. Sometimes two or more identical costumes or costumes with modifications may be needed for certain scenes:

- Water scenes (you need a dry change if you have to redo the scene)
- Fight scenes (the costume gets dirtier/soiled/broken/bloody....)

So... how do you get clothes dirty? How do you 'age' fabrics? How do you make bullet holes?

SAMS students talk about the creation of the Stranger Things collection.
