Lampedusa, a fishermen’s island off the coast of Sicily. Life goes by in routine fashion consolidated by work and customs. For everyone except Grazia, young mother of three children, who tries to bring happiness to those she loves: her husband, children and dogs. But her behavior is too “free” and vibrant for the place and her husband becomes convinced she should be admitted to a mental hospital in Milan. Grazia refuses and decides to disappear, helped by Pasquale, her thirteen-year-old son who wants to protect her fragile independence.
