Ziggy and Bas, both twelve, have always been friends but for the first time find themselves on opposing sides. In fact they are at summer camp, where games are in groups. The one that, using scrapwood, manages to build the highest tower in an allotted time, wins. Both boys go through a period of change, although their families seem not to notice. Above all, they have crushes on the same girl. Initially Bas seems to have the upper hand but Ziggy gradually becomes more and more determined.
