1977. Stella is eleven and begins her first day of middle school at a prestigious Parisian private school. A whole new world opens up to her, a world she didn’t even know existed. Stella lives in a café, surrounded by peculiar people. In a year she will grow and see things differently.
Based on the childhood memories of director Sylvie Verheyde, this is an autobiographical film that reactivates the spirit of the 70s. Like Stella, the director grew up on a violence-prone cafe frequented by disaffected people, far from the world of childhood; and like Stella, the director, too, was catapulted into the upper-middle-class Parisian world.
