12-year-old Freddie lives with his father, a police officer. One day, Freddie sees a dog being viciously beaten by his violent owner and he immediately knows he must do something. A stormy night, Freddie kidnaps the dog, hides him in his room and names him Storm. Soon Freddy’s dad discovers the dog and insists on handing him back to his lawful owner. But Freddy convinces his father they must save the dog and buy Storm. Nothing’s that simple, however, as Storm’s owner spots a good deal and demands an unreasonably large sum of money. Freddy must work hard to pay back the owner, but when the boy notices Storm is an unusually fast runner he starts to train him, helped by the dog trainer Sofie. Storm makes fast progress and Freddy signs him up for the annual Danish Championship Dog Race. If Storm wins, Freddy will be able to buy him for good and they can be together forever…
