THE WICKER MAN

1973

HOMAGE TO CHRISTOPHER LEE
On the occasion of the presentation of the Castello d'Oro for the career of actor and film icon Christopher Lee, Castellinaria dedicates an evening to him, screening a film Lee himself has chosen from among his favourites. This is a rare opportunity to see a film that is not distributed on the commercial circuit in the company of its leading actor.
Sergeant Howie receives an anonymous letter from Summersville, an island off the Scottish coast, asking him to investigate the disappearance of a young woman. He goes to Summersville and discovers a neo-pagan community there. A practicing Christian, the policeman is shocked by the rites and customs of the island, and begins to believe that the girl may have been a human sacrifice.
