Two African immigrants, 11-year-old Tori and 16-year-old Lokita, live by their wits in a Belgian town. She’s from Cameroon and he’s from Benin but they have become like brother and sister. Lokita is trying to obtain a work visa with which to support herself and Tori, but she also has to deal with the debt she incurred with the people who brought her there and also think about her mother and five siblings she left behind in Cameroon. Under Belgian law, they also must be able to prove their kinship and if they cannot, the future looks very dark. |
