Alessandro, 22 years old, is an ignorant lout young man from Trastevere, a popular neighborhood in Rome; Giorgio, eighty-five, is a forgotten poet. They live very close to each other but they have never met, till Alessandro is forced to accept a new job: taking that smart gentleman for afternoon walks. As time goes by, through his verses and his vague memories, the old poet begins to recall his past. Alessandro gets more and more interested in what seems to be a real treasure-hunt but even his greedy friends begin to think they have found a good opportunity to take advantage of.
